Bio

Karen Ho Fatt Lee is a Jamaican-Canadian designer and visual artist. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba, she practiced both commercial and residential interior design.  Karen eventually turned  to the fine arts, graduating with distinction in Ceramics from the Alberta University of the Arts in 2020.

It is this background in art and architecture where she developed a love of materials which features prominently in her public artwork, a cornerstone of her practice. Public artwork includes 2d wall installations and 3d sculptures, now with a primary focus on mosaics that blend clay and glass, transforming spaces into immersive experiences that engage and inspire. Whether through the vibrant hues of glass or the earthy tones of clay, Karen’s work evoke a sensory experience that bridges the gap between nature and abstraction.

Karen has honed her craft to explore the interplay of materials and their ability to convey emotion and narrative. Her artistic practice is characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and a deep appreciation for the tactile nature of media. 

Known for her diverse skill set, she is a creative problem solver with innovative ideas and solutions. Her primary aim is to create timeless designs that will ultimately transform the interior and exterior environment.

Karen’s public art installations can be found in various cities across Canada, including Calgary, St. Albert, Edmonton, Leduc, Red Deer, Saskatoon, and Toronto. Each piece reflects her her commitment to creating art that resonates with the environment and the communities she serves.
